Elizabeth House (Care Home), Welwyn Garden City
Elizabeth House ,run by Welwyn Garden City Housing Association, always aims to provide the highest standards of residential care to those people aged 65 and over. The care home is situated in the Panshanger area of Welwyn Garden City and Elizabeth House has been officially recognised as providing the highest level of care by the Care Quality Commission.
Kirsty Wiseman who is their activities co-ordinator came up with a great idea for all the residents to have their picture taken so that at Xmas the families could all be presented with a lovely framed photograph. All I can say is that when Reg Bek (Chief Executive for WGCHA) contacted me I was initially a little unsure how such a photo shoot could be organised.
After a few discussions and meetings with Kirsty we had it all planned out. What a day it was – a total privilege it was to do photo shoot at Elizabeth care home -it was an emotional and at times great laugh taking photos of the residents. Kirsty Wiseman made the photoshoot possible as she is an angel in disguise and was so good with the residents. The day was organised so that each resident could also get there hair cut or washed before the photoshoot. It was such fun and emotional. All I can say please god just don’t let me lose my teeth when I get older !!!!!! Shouting over ‘smile please’ just to see a set of false teeth fall out was so funny because the lady concerned found it also so funny that she couldn’t stop laughing. Anyway the day was a very humbling experience and I salute all those great carers I was watching – you guys are amazing.
